FAQCommercial

What are your working hours? Weekly off?

Our business hours are:

  • Lab: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Collection: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
  • Sundays are off.
  • Additionally, Diwali and other festival days are holidays.

Please call us for any specific day under consideration.

I have 30 samples per month; what discount can you offer?

Given that each of your samples lot requires individual testing procedures, including full quality control checks and dedicated resources, our testing services cannot be discounted as wholesale activity.

However, Polytest Laboratories remains committed to providing you with the full value of our testing services. We offer assistance in selecting appropriate test parameters, ensuring accurate results, and delivering prompt service to meet your needs effectively.

Can you give us a back dated test report for submissions?

We uphold a strict policy against backdating of reports and do not provide them. Once a sample is submitted and registered in our system, it cannot be altered. This policy also aligns strictly with the requirement of NABL under ISO 17025 standard.  This ensures laboratory’s integrity of sample management.

I am running late and not likely to reach your lab / collection center in time. How do I submit the sample then?

If you’re running late and won’t reach our lab or collection center in time, we understand the urgency. Typically, submitting samples late isn’t ideal due to the risk of sample degradation, and we have specific protocols for accepting samples.

However, if you give us a call well in advance, we can discuss and possibly find a solution for your particular situation. Please note that it’s generally not advisable to deliver samples beyond our working hours to ensure their integrity and accurate testing.

What are the payment options I have? Why do you take 100% testing charges in advance?

We offer multiple payment options for your convenience, including Cash, Credit/Debit card, E-transfer, or Cheque. Our policy requires payment in full before accepting samples. This approach helps us manage our operations efficiently, especially for short-duration and low-value assignments where managing credit lines becomes challenging.

Why do you charge for sample collection? Why can't you include it testing charges?

The charge for sample collection encompasses various costs, including the travel expenses of our sampler, their salary, and overheads. Our samplers are trained professionals who adhere to correct procedures and handling protocols. Offering sample collection as a service extension saves our customers time and effort.

The reason why sampling costs are separate from testing charges is because the cost is incurred per trip, not per sample. This breakdown allows us to accurately account for the resources involved in providing this additional service.

Many a time other labs send test reports quicker than you, why?

Many a time when other labs may submit test reports more quickly than us, it may be due to differences between committed and actual delivery times, as well as the use of non-standard methods or techniques to expedite results.

At Polytest Laboratories, we prioritize delivering test results on or before the promised time, maintaining an impressive on-time delivery record of 97.7%.

We are constantly working to improve and would appreciate it if you could share any data regarding faster deliveries from other labs so we can analyze and learn from these cases.

I understand that some tests require more time to complete. However I may need some test results as they come out. Can you give partial test report to fulfill my urgent need?

Generally, the entire test report needs to be seen in its totality since many parameters need to be verified in parity with each other. However, if there is no direct interrelationship of tests, we can definitely provide you a partial report to serve your immediate purpose.

How many days are required for water testing?

The Testing Turnaround Time (TAT) varies based on sample type and the number of parameters selected. A typical water sample report can be delivered within 3 working days, while samples requiring microbiological testing with longer incubation and analysis times may take up to 15 days. Other factors affecting TAT include temporary lab workload and sample sensitivity to interference based on its nature. We will provide you with the exact results delivery date upon sample submission.

My site is far away from your lab. Please tell us how to send the samples to you?

Sending samples through a courier is often more economical and faster than sending a person to collect from distant locations. FAQTechnical

Can you do the audit at our place and collect samples accordingly?

Focus of Polytest Laboratories is only to scientifically test the samples and provide correct results. Polytest does not audit processes from where the samples are collected. Such audit needs specialized domain knowledge with clear objectives such as process improvement or material alteration and then giving specific recommendation. It is your consultant who provides you insights by analyzing the test results.

How can we recycle STP treated water?

Your consultant is the correct person to suggest recycling possibilities, as he studies the entire situation at site. Generally you can compare the test results with the limits prescribed by Pollution Control Board (as per their Consent) and accordingly utilize treated wastewater for gardening, toilet flushing, car washing and other such non-critical applications. Practically, the wastewater needs to be crystal clear with a BOD value less than 10 mg/l for using it for toilet flushing.

I have an unknown solid sample. Can I know what it contains? It is harmful?

It is generally difficult to know the material contents without first knowing its approximate target constituents and the end application.

I have an experiment to run. Can you provide us the lab support?

As per the availability of resources, Polytest can undertake material testing to support your experiments. However, we may not be able to conduct comprehensive experiments in our lab. Please write to us for specific testing.

What is the difference between RO water and dialysis water?

Conventional RO water is used for general applications like drinking, industrial use, whereas, dialysis water because of is medical application has to meet more stringent norms hence may undergo further purification stages. Otherwise, fundamental treatment strategy for both applications is the same.

Why the bacteriological testing is necessary for checking drinking water?

Majority of the water borne diseases, such as diarrhea or gastroenteritis are due to bacterial presence in drinking water. Many a time, apparently safe drinking water is found with microbial contamination; hence it is advisable to conduct the microbial analysis on your drinking water.

My water is bad; it is creating itching / hair fall after bath. What parameters should we check?

Behind any such symptomatic complaints there are various causes and not necessarily the one of the water alone. For hair fall and skin irritation, consult your dermatologist for proper treatment and proper advice. However, it is generally believed that it is mainly due to fungal infection transmitted through skin contact or usage of unhygienic swimming pool. Visit the link here for further reading. Polytest laboratories can test water for the presence of fungus and other parameters for your dermatologist.

I have already received your test report. Can I add a parameter for testing for same sample?

This is your choice whether to get print standard values printed. Sometimes it is also useful since you will need them to compare with the obtained results. It will help you to check the efficacy of your process. Statutory submission of test report also warrants that the standard values are printed against the obtained test results.

What is the difference between Grab sampling and Composite sampling?

Simply put only a single sample – collected randomly or systematically – from the source is a grab sample. The composite sampling entails aggregation of many time weighted subsamples taken from the source. E.g. If you take one sample every hour for 12 hours from a water stream and mix them together, it will be a 12-hr composite sample. Composite sampling gives more representative results. For commodities or other types, systematic sampling plans are followed.
